Device Safety
Light therapy is generally safe with minimal side effects. Some users may experience mild warmth, slight redness, or tingling, which usually resolves quickly. If you notice unusual reactions due to personal sensitivity, stop using and consult a doctor.
Light therapy is not recommended for individuals with photosensitive conditions, certain skin disorders, or those taking photosensitizing medications. Consult a physician before use if you have health concerns, chronic conditions, or uncertainty about suitability.
Red light therapy is not recommended during pregnancy.
Children under the age of 16 should not use JOVS devices. Elderly users may use them safely, but those taking medications or with sensitive skin or eyes should consult a doctor first and start with short, low-intensity sessions.
Before: Clean skin, remove makeup/oils, avoid photosensitive ingredients. While red light therapy is generally gentle and does not contain UV, it’s still recommended to avoid direct eye exposure or use eye protection if needed. Start with 10–30 min sessions.
After: Light therapy has no downtime; moisturize if dry, avoid strong sun for 48h, clean device, and follow 3–5 sessions/week, 10–30 min each. Stop and consult a doctor if irritation occurs.
Generally safe, but individual medical conditions may vary. Always consult a healthcare professional, especially for pregnant women, children, elderly, or people with chronic illnesses or implants.
Red Laser Light Mask
Yes. The JOVS 4D Laser Light Therapy Mask is FDA‑cleared as an OTC (over‑the‑counter) light‑based wrinkle treatment device for home use.
Most users can use the JOVS laser mask 3–5 times per week, depending on their skin tolerance and the recommended protocol in the user manual. Each treatment session typically lasts 10–30 minutes. Consistent use over several weeks helps support collagen stimulation and visible skin improvement.
Yes. Red and near-infrared laser light therapy is widely studied for its ability to stimulate cellular energy production and collagen synthesis in the skin. This process can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and promote smoother-looking skin with regular use.
Yes. When used as directed, cosmetic laser light therapy is safe, non-invasive, UV-free, and non-ionizing. People with photosensitivity or certain medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before use.
Results vary depending on skin condition and usage consistency. Many users begin to notice improvements in skin texture and radiance within 1–4 weeks, while visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles may take 6–8 weeks or longer with regular treatments.
The JOVS laser mask uses a combination of four laser wavelengths: 660 nm, 850 nm, 940 nm, and 1064 nm laser light. These wavelengths are designed to target different layers of the skin to support collagen production, improve circulation, and enhance overall skin rejuvenation.
Red LED Light Therapy
It enhances collagen and elastin synthesis, increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, and promotes skin repair, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more radiant skin over time.
Yes. With regular, long-term use, red light therapy can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, calm acne inflammation, and lighten dark spots by supporting cell regeneration and skin repair.
Yes. Red light therapy is non-invasive, non-UV, and safe for all skin types when used as directed. Use recommended session duration and frequency to prevent mild redness or warmth.
Side effects are rare. Some users may experience mild warmth, slight redness, or tingling, which usually resolves quickly.
IPL Hair Removal
IPL offers long-term hair reduction, but results vary depending on hair color, skin tone, and individual hair growth cycles. Multiple sessions are typically required for optimal results. Check our skin type guide to see whether IPL hair removal is suitable for your skin tone.
Most users feel mild warmth or tingling. Devices with adaptive intensity and cooling help reduce discomfort. For example, the JOVS Venus Pro II IPL Hair Removal Device features SK technology and a 5 °C cooling contact head for a more comfortable treatment.
With devices like the JOVS Venus Pro II IPL Hair Removal Device, the recommended plan is 3 sessions per week for the first 2 weeks, then 2 sessions per week for the next 2 weeks, followed by monthly maintenance sessions to maintain smooth skin.
JOVS IPL hair removal is designed for sensitive skin with adjustable energy, skin sensors, and cooling. Start with short, low-frequency sessions to test tolerance. Stop if any reaction occurs and resume once your skin recovers.
EMS – Body Sculpting Devices
You can use ems devices every day or 2–3 times per week, 20 minutes per session. Consistency improves muscle tone and shape.
Yes. EMS activates deep muscle fibers to enhance tone, strength, and firmness in targeted areas.
Yes. JOVS EMS devices deliver controlled pulses for safe, non-invasive stimulation suitable for abdominal, glute, or chest muscles.
Mild tingling may occur at first as the body adapts. Start with low intensity and use 2–3 times per week. Avoid broken or irritated skin, and consult a doctor if you have a pacemaker or implants.
Yes. EMS can be worn during light activity to supplement exercise but not replace it.
EMS & Microcurrent – Firming Devices
Microcurrent devices mimic the body’s natural electrical currents to boost cellular ATP production, stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis, and enhance facial muscle tone. This can reduce fine lines, improve skin firmness, and brighten complexion over time.
- Start with 3 sessions per week, 5–20 minutes per session.
- Gradually increase to daily use as tolerated.
- Follow device-specific instructions for duration and intensity to avoid overstimulation.
Yes. EMS gently tones and lifts facial muscles, improving sagging and contours. Microcurrent supports collagen production and muscle tone, reducing fine lines over time. Consistent use over several weeks can lead to firmer, lifted-looking skin.
Yes. When used as directed, EMS and microcurrent devices are generally safe for facial muscles and most skin types, including sensitive skin. They use low-voltage currents to gently stimulate muscles. Start with low intensity and stop use if irritation occurs.
Users usually feel gentle tingling or light muscle pulsing, similar to a “buzz.” It should not be painful; if uncomfortable, reduce intensity or session time. Sensation varies by device and individual sensitivity.
Yes. Avoid use if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or implanted electronic device, serious heart conditions, neuromuscular disorders, broken skin, open wounds, or active inflammation. Always follow the device manual and consult a dermatologist if unsure.
DPL Photofacial
DPL is a narrower, more controlled form of IPL. Its light is absorbed more efficiently by melanin and hemoglobin, making it more precise, faster, and effective for treating dark spots, uneven skin tone, and redness, with less risk of unwanted exposure.
DPL targets dark spots, redness, spider veins, acne marks, uneven skin tone, dullness, and early aging signs. It also improves skin firmness, texture, and overall brightness.
Yes. Devices like JOVS Blacken Pro have built-in safety features—light filtering, skin sensing, and cooling. Safe when instructions are followed; patch testing is recommended.
3–4 times per week for best results. Allow skin recovery between sessions; daily use is not necessary.
